Eligibility Process

Candidates can take the exam via two options:  
Option 1: Official Training – Candidates who have completed official EC-Council training either at an Accredited Training Center, via the iClass platform, or at an approved academic institution can attempt the relevant EC-Council exam. 
Option 2: Self Study – Those students not undergoing official training need to have the prescribed qualifying work experience as follows:

Note: Certifications other than the ones mentioned above have no predefined eligibility as such.

The age requirement for attending the training or the exam is strictly based on the candidate‘s country of origin/residence.  
Candidates under the legal age, as permitted by their country of origin/residency,  are not eligible to attend the official training or attempt the certification exam unless they provide the accredited training center/EC-Council a written consent/indemnity of their parent/legal guardian and a supporting letter from their institution of higher learning.

No, candidates are not eligible for a refund of the application fee of 100 USD in cases where applications are not approved.

An application takes between 5-10 working days to process, on average, after the verifiers on the application grant access to EC-Council’s requests for information.

After the application gets approved, candidates will be instructed to purchase a voucher from EC-Council directly from the webstore at store.eccouncil.org. After that, candidates will receive a voucher code, which they can use to register and schedule the exam. 

The application is valid for three months from the approval date. After the voucher codes have been released, the applicant has one year to use them.

A valid exam voucher can be extended only once.

For a fee of 35 USD, candidates can extend their exam vouchers for an additional three months by contacting [email protected]. This request must be made at least five (5) business days before the expiry date. The candidate will need to supply the voucher number that they would like to extend.
