What is EC-Council Continuing Education Fees?
The Continuing Education (CE) fee is a mandatory payment necessary for the renewal of certification(s), and it must be submitted before the certificate(s) renewal process. Fee due dates are based on your CE renewal cycle, not the calendar year.
To continue the development and value of EC-Council certification credentials, as well as the continued support of its certified community, EC-Council has implemented a plan that requires the annual payment of certification CE fees in line with standard industry practices.
For certified members who hold certifications that require continuing education, the annual CE fee is USD $80 for all certifications with prefixes 212,312,412, 512 and all CAST certifications (with the exceptions of the C|CISO is $100, CPENT and LPT are $250 credentials).
For certified members who do not hold certifications that require continuing education, the annual CE fee is USD $20 for all certifications with prefix 112 (Except the Essentials series programs – EHE, NDE, DFE).
Continuing education fees are payable annually from the date of attaining the certification. For example, if you attain your CEH certification on May 5th, 2021, your certificate expiration date will be 1st June 2022.
Failure to pay the required CE fees will result in the suspension of your Aspen services. During the suspension period, you will neither be able to download your e-certificate nor be able to update your ECE Credits in your account.
Are all certified members required to pay the CE fees?
Yes, all certified members are required to pay the annual CE fees. This includes CCISO, CAST, CPENT, LPTs and all other EC-Council certified members (Except the Essentials series programs – EHE, NDE, DFE, CSE, DSE, ISE, SCE, TIE).
What CE fees am I liable for if I choose to retire my CCISO, CPENT and/or my LPT credentials?
Members who choose to retire their CCISO, CPENT and/or their LPT credentials shall only be liable to pay for the basic CE fees of USD $80 or USD $20, respectively, if the members intend to maintain their other EC-Council certification credentials.

Will I be automatically recertified for the next certification cycle (3 years) if I pay the annual CE fees?
No, Recertification is subject to fulfilling the criteria under the ECE policy AND the payment of the annual CE fees as listed at

The annual CE fee is subject to a minimum of one active certification earned by a member.
Note: If a member loses their ECE certification due to revocation but still holds a NON ECE relevant certification, their annual CE fees will be USD $20 in the subsequent CE fee cycle.
What happens to my certificate if I do not pay the CE fees on time?
If the CE fees are not paid on the due date, the certificate expiry date will remain the same as originally printed but there will be restrictions apply which would include your inability to add ECE credits, and share your digital badge on social platforms.
How can I extend the validity of my certificate?
To extend the validity of your certificate, you must pay the annual CE fees and gather the required ECE credits i.e. 120 in the three year period. Once the CE fees are paid, the certificate expiry date will be extended for another year.
Can I add ECE credits if my certificate expires due to non-payment of CE fees
No, you will not be able to add ECE credits if your certificate expires due to non-payment of the CE fees.
What are the consequences of not paying the annual CE fees?
CE fees is an administrative charge, payable for the administrative services and If you do not pay the annual CE fees on the due date, your certificate expiry date will not be extended, and you will lose access to certain features. Specifically, you will not be able to add ECE credits and share the badge on social platforms.
When will members be expected to make their first CE fees?
Scenario 1
Members certified prior to January 1st, 2016, will not be charged CE fees for their current cycle. The CE fees cycle will only begin once they are recertified, and their due date will be at the end of that annual cycle.
Scenario 2
Members certified from January 1st, 2016, and onwards will start their CE fees cycle 1 month from the date of certification earned, and their due date will be at the end of that annual cycle.
Eg: A member certified on February 25th, 2016, will have to pay their annual CE fees before March 1st, 2017.
Scenario 3
Members who are certified before January 1st, 2016, but earn a new certification post December 31st, 2015 – their CE fees due date will be reset as per the latest earned certificate. (as per scenario 2)
Note: CPENT, LPT, and/or CCISO members will be required to pay the annual CE fees for these certifications per the CPENT, LPT, and CCISO CE fee requirements. CPENT, LPT and CCISO certified members are not required to pay any other annual CE fees.
I own a CCISO, CPENT and/or LPT certification. Do I still need to pay an additional CE fee for my other EC-Council credentials?
Members holding the CCISO, CPENT or LPT certification will continue to pay their respective annual CE fees towards these certifications only; no additional CE fees will be applicable to these members for any other EC-Council credentials.
I hold CCISO, CPENT and/or LPT certifications. Do I need to pay the CE fees for each individually?
Yes, each certification requires its own individual CE fee to maintain its active status.
I hold both CPENT and LPT certifications. Do I need to pay the CE fees for each individually?
No, holding both CPENT and LPT certifications requires payment of a single CE fee, which will cover both certifications.
What will be the validity of my certificate, If I pay the CE fee post my due date?
The validity of the certificate will be extended from the effective the original expiry date.
Will I be able to download my certificate if I do not pay my CE fees?
Yes, you will be able to download your certificate but the expiry date will remain unchanged/original expiry date.
How long is my certificate valid after I receive it?
Your certificate validity is set for one year from the date of certification and is renewed for the period your CE fee is paid. You can choose the “Pay in advance” option and get your certificate validity extended in accordance to your ECE and CE fee cycles.
What is an CE auto renewal/subscription for the annual CE fee?
A CE auto renewal/subscription is a payment method where your annual CE fee is automatically deducted from your credit card at regular intervals based on your chosen plan.
How do I set up an CE auto renewal/subscription for my CE fee?
To set up an CE auto renewal/subscription, you need to provide your payment information and authorize the service provider to automatically deduct payments on a recurring basis. Login to your Aspen account and click on “CE Auto Renewal” button to choose your plan.
Can I change the payment method for my CE Auto Renewal?
Yes, you can change your payment method. Go to your profile settings, find the “Update Payment” option, and update your payment information. The new details will be saved to the payment gateway, and you will receive an email notification confirming the update. Currently, EC-Council offers payment via credit/debit cards only. The service provider may charge one time validation fee subject to your Bank policies.
How do I cancel my CE Auto Renewal subscription?
To cancel your CE Auto Renewal subscription, go to your profile settings, find the subscription option, view your auto debit plans, select the one you want to cancel, and proceed with the cancellation. You will receive an email notification once the cancellation is complete.
Will I be notified before the payment is deducted?
Yes, you will receive a reminder notification via email before the payment is deducted. Please ensure that you whitelist the EC-Council emails so as to prevent them from reaching your clutter folder.
What happens if a payment fails?
If a payment fails, you will receive an email notification. You can manually make the payment through the Aspen Dashboard. There may be implications on your certificate validity due to non-receipt or delayed payments.
What if my CE category gets downgraded after a higher auto debit amount is deducted?
If your CE category is downgraded after the auto debit occurs and the service has already been provided, there will be no refund or adjustment of the advance amount.
What if my CE category gets upgraded after a lower auto debit amount is deducted?
If your CE category is upgraded after a lower amount has been deducted, the auto-debit will continue as normal. The system will automatically update your CE fee to reflect the new category, and the revised amount will be reflected in your account.
What if I have dual CE fee category?
For dual CE fee category, you will need to select the auto debit option for both CE fee categories separately. The amount will be auto-debited individually for each category.
Ex: If you are a CPENT and CCISO certified member and you opt for an annual CE plan, your card will be charged $100(For CCISO) and $250(For CPENT) individually.
Will I get a refund if I subscribe and later unsubscribe from CE auto renewal subscription?
If your payment were deducted based on your initial preference of subscription, no, refunds are not available for CE auto renewal subscription.
Can I set up an CE auto renewal subscription using a debit card?
Yes, you can set up an CE auto renewal subscription using a debit card. Ensure your card details are updated in the “Payment Method” section of your profile settings.
Can I pause my CE auto renewal subscription?
Pausing an CE auto renewal subscription is not an option. You can cancel the subscription and re-enrol when needed.
Will I receive a confirmation after setting up or cancelling an CE auto renewal subscription?
Yes, you will receive an email confirmation after setting up or cancelling your CE auto renewal subscription. This confirmation will include details of the changes made to your subscription.
How often will the auto debit occur?
The auto debit will occur annually, aligned with the renewal date of your CE fee.
Can I switch to 2 year or 3 year auto debit plan?
Yes, you can switch to a 2 year or 3 year auto debit plan by updating your subscription preferences in your profile settings. Your certificate validity post the third year will be subject to your ECE cycle.
Is the CE Auto Renewal feature mandatory for all certified members?
No, the CE Auto Renewal feature is completely optional. Certified members may choose to subscribe to the auto-renewal option or continue with manual payments for their annual CE fees.
What are the benefits of subscribing to the Auto Renewal feature?
Subscribing to the Auto Renewal feature ensures seamless maintenance of your CE status by automatically processing your annual CE fees on a 1-year, 2-year, or 3-year plan.
Is it recommended to subscribe to the Auto Renewal feature?
Yes, we recommend subscribing to the Auto Renewal feature. It simplifies the process, ensuring that your CE fees are paid on time, making certification maintenance hassle-free.

How can I pay the annual CE fees?
Annual CE fees are payable in the member’s Aspen account, certificate area. You will see instructions on paying here if your CE fee is due.
What mode of payment is accepted?
CE fees can be paid via credit/debit cards.
What if I have more than one EC-Council certification; do I need to pay per certification?
CE fees are not charged by the number of certifications held; you will only need to pay a single CE fee as indicated in the members’ Aspen account.
Will I be required to pay multiple annual CE fees if I own more than one account in Aspen?
Certified members should not hold multiple Aspen accounts. Should this not be the case, you are advised to merge your Aspen account. This can be done by writing to us at [email protected].
Certified members are required to pay only one annual CE fee for all their EC-Council certification credentials (except CCISO, CPENT and LPT)
How can I get my payment receipts?
You can download your payment receipts from the Aspen Dashboard under the “Payment Receipts” section.
Is there a grace period if I miss a payment?
There is no grace period if you miss the payment.
