EC-Council’s Continuous Education (ECE) Policy aims to brand, differentiate, and distinguish a certified member as a dedicated IT Security professional. Such a professional is willing to continuously learn and share knowledge to keep themselves and others abreast of the latest technological changes that affect the way security is viewed, deployed, and managed. This is a key requirement of employers globally.
Once a candidate becomes certified by EC-Council, the relationship between EC-Council and the candidate will always be governed by the EC-Council Candidate Certification Agreement, which the candidate must agree to before receiving their certification. Candidates who are differently abled can request special accommodations to attempt any EC-Council certification exam, when the exam is otherwise hard for them to attempt using the standard testing equipment or within the standard exam duration. This initiative aligns with EC-Council’s commitment to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA, 1991).
EC-Council will accommodate reasonable requests by candidates with special needs, equate them with other candidates, and enable them to denote their skills and knowledge in EC-Council’s exams.
Most of the EC-Council certifications have a certain eligibility criterion that the candidate is required to fulfil to be able to take the exam.
What are the eligibility criteria to take the exam?
There are two options: 1) Official Training 2) Self Study
If a candidate has completed an official EC-Council training either at an Accredited Training Center, via the iClass platform, or at an approved academic institution, the candidate is eligible to attempt the relevant EC-Council exam.

To continue the development and value of EC-Council certification credentials and the continued support of its membership community, EC-Council has implemented a plan that requires the annual payment of certification maintenance fees in line with standard industry practices.
